Hip Flexor
http://www.trails.com/list_34489_exercises-hip-flexor-quad-muscles.html Hip flexor exercises strengthen the muscles in front of your hip. The hip flexor muscle attaches from the hip and also to the vertebrae in the lower back. Strength training for this muscle is important because it is used daily for standing, walking and other movements that involve the legs. Keeping the hip flexor muscle...

Ten Tips to Get You Moving
From here: http://journals.lww.com/neurologynow/Fulltext/2010/06030/Walk_This_Way.10.aspx If you have problems walking and often lose your balance, or if you’re out of shape and get winded quickly, those warning signs should prompt you to consider a regular exercise program to improve function. “Walking should be as good as it can be so you don’t have to expend much energy just to...

So I went to see my neuro today.
He said my ataxia is a mild one. So, hooray to that. And he also said that the Parkinson symptoms are far more obvious in my ataxia, so he increased the dosage of Levodopa I am currently taking, as I had hoped. He also agreed with taking out the feeding tube. I asked him about the Chantix trial. He didn’t seem to be excited about the drug. He said he received mixed results after using it on...

Parts of body needed to be strengthened.
My left forearm, My entire right leg, it is far better than before, although it still feels like a chicken drumstick sometimes, especially the hip flexor area. My shoulders. My calfs and hamstrings, especially on the right leg. But that is kinda repetitive over #2. My core muscle. Turning and lifting up stuff are still problematic for me. My right tricep. It needs to learn to loosen...

Moved a lot also ate a lot
Walked to gym, worked out for like 45 minutes, while watching US tying Ghana at one a piece, then walked back. Rested for like 15 minutes, and my aunt came to pick me up for dinner in her house. So, I walked to her car, was already feeling the strain on my right hip flexor. Wow, wasn’t that a goddamn struggle? I tried really hard not to just let my right hip flexor go and fall flat on my...

Wow, big mistake.
I didn’t have enough breakfast. Instead, I ate two bananas and a cup of milk for breakfast. Then I went through my regular morning exercises, first the balance exercise and then the core strength exercise done on a fitness ball. Afterward, I had major low blood sugar attack. I felt so weak and couldn’t do anything about it. Fortunately, my dad was there to help me with the fitness ball...

My goal in long term for exercise
I don’t stop, ever, if the goal is not reached. I know it will take time, it is hard and it is a process, that is why it also needs determination. My goal is to be able to walk with 3 legs only, not the 4+2 I am relying on right now. It is tough, considering how bad a shape I was in at the beginning of May, slightly less than 2 months before. But if I am to be consistent, persistent, I will...

Great movie
Saw “(500) days of summer” last night. It was a very well directed, written and acted movie, that I am planning on buying the DVD for and definitely going to watch again. Funny how I feel for Tom. I know exactly how he felt for Summer when he was in love with her, how he felt when he was abandoned like old shoes by her. Except in my case, it would have been 3500 days of summer, err,...

Judge Rejects Patents on Cancer Genes →
jayparkinsonmd: A Manhattan judge ruled Monday that two genes associated with breast and ovarian cancer are “the law of nature,” thereby nullifying seven patents by Myriad Genetics of Utah. Prior to the decision, women wishing to be tested for the indicators would have had to consult with the patent holder—at a cost of $3,000—but now the monopoly no longer applies. Myriad argued that while...

suzannexie: catbird: jstn: I wholly believe this to be true. (for reference, a picture of the Bloomberg Terminal:) Ah, how true this is. Ironically, it was only a couple years ago when I was in finance and thought this terminal was the coolest thing because of it’s complexity.
